Charles Lampkin

Charles Lampkin was an actor who made a successful career for himself in film. Lampkin started his acting career landing roles in such films as "Toys in the Attic" (1963) with Dean Martin, the Don Murray dramatic adaptation "One Man's Way" (1964) and the James Stewart drama "The Rare Breed" (1966). He also appeared in the comedy "The Thomas Crown Affair" (1968) with Steve McQueen, the comedy "Watermelon Man" (1970) with Godfrey Cambridge and the Fred "The Hammer" Williamson action picture "Hammer" (1972). His film career continued throughout the seventies in productions like "Cornbread, Earl & Me" (1975) with Moses Gunn and the drama "Islands in the Stream" (1977) with George C Scott. His work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "Hurricane" (ABC, 1974-75). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the Walter Matthau comedy adaptation "First Monday in October" (1981), "Second Thoughts" (1983) and "Cocoon" (1985) with Don Ameche. He also appeared in the fantasy "Swordkill" (1986) with John Calvin. He also had a part in the TV miniseries "Roots: The Next Generations" (1978-79). Lampkin more recently acted on "Frank's Place" (CBS, 1987-88). Lampkin passed away in April 1989 at the age of 76.
