What happens when you wake up the morning after leaving the most important rock band of all time? In April 1970, Paul released his first solo album, McCartney, alongside a shocking press release that announced the beloved band had split. When asked what he'd do next, he said his only plan... was to grow up. Man on the Run captures Paul's transformative decade in the wake of The Beatles' break-up. Through stunning archival footage, Linda McCartney's exceptional photographs, and interviews with Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde, Sean Ono Lennon, Mary and Stella McCartney, all the living Wings members, and of course Paul himself, the film examines this time through a uniquely vulnerable lens.

This one tells an involving story (for fans, anyway) but serves mainly as advertising and image maintenance for its star, and an investment for him and various parties that represent the star’s music, past and future. Go to Full Review

In Morgan Neville’s intimate and insightful musical doc, Paul McCartney finds his musical wings without the Beatles but with wife Linda riding shotgun and teaching him about hard to reach places in the heart. Go to Full Review

So this is really a movie for hard-core McCartney (or Wings) fans who want to see all of the rare archival footage — or, conversely, for curious newbies who want a fast-paced introduction to one of the most talented songwriters of all time. Go to Full Review

Visually and aurally, Man on the Run is packed with 1970s vibes. And If you’re a Wings head, you’re home. It’s also a solid survey of where Paul McCartney was, philosophically and emotionally, as he publicly traversed his post-Beatles chapter. Go to Full Review

On the whole, Man on the Run is a visually and technically creative documentary that successfully contextualizes McCartney’s decade of metamorphosis as a person and musician via his second band, Wings. Go to Full Review

Sal D @JustTheLaw 4h I was already personally very curious about Paul McCartney before watching so there's definitely a preference bias. That said, I thought this documentary shared a very personal perspective/insights into Paul and Linda McCartney, their kids, the relationship with John Lennon after the Beatles break-up, the late Denny Laine, Wings and the peripheral musicians in the band amongst a list of other historical points. For anyone person wanting to learn about the era and some of the people I note, this is worth the time. See more Steve A. @MaryAndSteve 20h Disclaimer. I’m a Beatles fan. Well worth the watch and much more than what you’d expect. It’s insightful and heartwarming. The music and performances shine, but not as brightly as Paul and Linda’s love story. It really reframes the Wings catalogue in a whole new light. Turn up the volume and enjoy! See more Ed B. @EdLee 1d Really well produced documentary. Picks up where The Beatles ended. And McCartney musical journey continued. Forming another successful band , The Wings. Really great insights and anecdotes in this documentary. And the music. Fabulous. See more Robert H. @Rpharland 1d This from a fan. Included stuff I’d never seen. Ran together nicely and very human. Loved it. Happy/sad. See more Ed B. @edwbizz 1d Watching it now. It is so good! See more Linda L @Listenlinda 1d Great documentary. Paul McCartney really loved Life and he loves music. He really felt that music along with his family was what his life was about. Just looking back at Paul McCartneys life is a reminder of how much music meant to him and how blessed are we that Paul McCartney brought so much joy to so many people’s lives..
