Kevin P 4d A fairly entertaining conclusion for the trilogy. Most of the movie is a standard western, but it's a fairly likable western. The plot is less ambitious, but more consistent & focused than Part II. Thomas Wilson is great as Biff's outlaw ancestor Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen. I like the constant Clint Eastwood references. The returning cast is great as always. I liked the clever brainstorming to use the train to make the DeLorean run fast enough to go back to the future. It's Doc Brown's turn for romance this time. I like that he gets more focus, even if the romance isn't anything too special (still sweet though). The cliche misunderstanding between Clara and Doc Brown feels forced. I liked the hot sauce "wake up juice" they use on Doc Brown. The climax on the train is pretty fun. It's a nice ending wrapping everything up in 1985. Doc Brown's fate is messy, but his final line about our unwritten futures was inspiring. It's a pretty good conclusion to a great trilogy. I love how Marty goes back in time to prevent doc from dying. I love all the stuff with Buford Tannan. I also like all the scenes and interactions between Sheamus and Marty. I love the story how Marty and Doc need to get back to 1985 with zero gasoline. I really like Clara’s inclusion in this movie. I also like the part of the story of how the future might be changed from Doc dying to Marty or “Clint Eastwood” dying. I love the showdown between Buford and Marty. I love the final act with the train being used to get the Delorean up to 88 miles per hour and how the Delorean will pass onto existing tracks in 1985 once it travels through time that are not there yet in 1885. I love the trilogy’s final message which is telling the viewer that they determine their own future and for them to make it a good one. This is an amazing end to a trilogy, the best Back to the Future movie, and the trilogy as a whole is the best franchise that is entirely just one trilogy. There's still some stuff to enjoy like the time traveling train but other than that there's a lot that brings it down. Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd do their best but their performances are brought down by embarrassing and really childish comedy like butt humor, spice humor, and pee humor. If you watch the movie you'll know what I mean. The other problem is that there's too many subplots. There's the one where Doc falls in love with Clara (Mary Steenburgen), the main plot about Doc and Marty attempting to travel back to 1985, and the plot about Marty needing to duel Buford Tannen. After all these subplots are thrown at you, you start to ask yourself, "Why am I not just watching the first or second movie? The stories in those two were so much simpler".
