Yes, there is a healthy amount of nudity, but it’s not used in a deviant or perverse way. I found that the story, while being a bit campy and uneven at times, was certainly original. It’s just so… different and interesting. Mathilda May, the primary lead ‘space vampire’ is captivating, not because she’s nude in almost the entire film, but because she plays a sympathetic character. She’s both a beautifully mesmerizing and deadly predator, but isn’t malicious or malevolent. The effects are pretty good overall, especially with John Dykstra (of Star Wars fame) at the helm. Overall a good movie. Weird? Yes, but worth a watch. If a director can chew scenery, Hooper goes after it like Bruce the shark from 'Jaws' here, with an admirably enthusiastic (if at times confused-looking) Steve Railsback and Peter Firth making for some of the most head scratching heroes of 1980s cinema - but within its own context, like a jalapeno margarita, it somehow works. And, as the author of the original (and rather different) novel is supposed to have quipped: "At least there's lots of full frontal nudity!" Unlovable heroe(s), unclear plot, and the whole space vampire thing was much better done in the Buck Rogers TV series about 4-5 years prior. BUT … do you want to re-live your wasted Saturday afternoons? Do you enjoy lots of screaming? Me too. You’ll love it then.
