Alauda Ruiz de Azúa delivers a sober, ambiguous drama that refuses easy answers. Anchored by Blanca Soroa’s restrained performance, Los domingos turns a young woman’s spiritual calling into a piercing exploration of faith, freedom, and family fractures. Go to Full Review

...Alauda has decided to take another risk and make a film that goes against the grain: uncomfortable, unsettling. Smart. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Marco L @decatur555 2h Los Domingos presents a young girl’s decision to enter a cloistered convent not through visible conflict or conviction, but through an unsettling passivity. The film leans heavily on silence, ambiguity and emotional distance, suggesting more than it openly states. At times it feels contemplative, at others quietly critical, especially in the coldly filmed family farewell and the tension of Aunt Maite’s monologue. The use of Nick Cave’s "Into My Arms" in a near-liturgical setting adds an intriguing layer of possible irony. Yet the narrative never fully commits to either celebration or critique, leaving the story suspended in ambivalence. There are thoughtful moments and a clear thematic intention, but the film ultimately struggles to deepen its exploration of vocation, freedom and loss.
