American businessman Jack Dwyer, wife Annie and their two young daughters arrive in Southeast Asia to begin a new life. As his company plans to improve the region's water quality, the family quickly learns that they're right in the middle of a political uprising. Armed rebels attack the hotel where they're staying, ordered to kill any foreigners that they encounter. Amid the chaos, Jack must find a way to save himself and his loved ones from the violence erupting all around them.

Yes a little ethnicaly clichés, but the actors make you grateful you weren't them. Enjoyed 3 times the last 10 years now and still reminds me how lucky i am.

A lot of this movie's negatives can be construed as positives. The characters of the film have no sense of direction. Their motivation is simply to survive, but they don't have much of an end goal of how to accomplish it. But that is very clearly by design. The characters don't know what they caught up in and are just trying to stay one jump ahead of the chaos. But even with trying to create a hectic feeling, the action choreography is very poor. The brief bonding moments of the family, between moments of chaos, are very sweet and unique. And Pierce Brosnan is absolutely pitch perfect in every scene he is in.
