I guarantee you you’ve never seen anything like it, but if you like the off-the-wall antics for your movie night, you could surf online for days and not find anything close to this one. A genre mash-up of musicals, zombies, “Bring it On” and Russ Meyer movies, director Pat Higgins has created something that defies description. And once the cheerleaders get ahold of a chainsaw, well, that is when you know for certain that the fertile minds behind this one perhaps utilized the very best and most select mind-altering substances to their best use. But there is one thing I can tell you for sure - you’ll love it or loathe it. There will be no room in between, even for indie film aficionados. The plot revolves around a TV talent show with the competition including a cheerleader group, a magician and a boy band. The musical numbers are fun and inspired, including a number called "I am just a guy dying on the floor". Charlie Bond and James Hamer-Morton both shine brightly as the leads and are well supported by a strong ensembles cast. The supporting characters in the cheerleaders and the boyband are great and you get to see their individual quirky characters, and the unique dynamics of each of the groups, each character is well thought out and have their moment in the sun before most of them hysterically meet their end. The cheerleaders, led by a feisty Charlie Bond, deliver great comedic timing and physical prowess, while the boys led by James Hamer-Morton channel smooth and classic boyband vibes. Pat Higgins’ direction showcases masterful command for the genre, combining colorful visuals, a fast-paced narrative, and an extra dose of fun. “Powertool Cheerleaders vs. The Boyband of the Screeching Dead” is a gloriously funny, blood-soaked musical extravaganza, so strap on your seat belt and enjoy the wide ride. The movie has a lot of strong scenes that I enjoyed watching and which were very comical. The movie is written & directed by Pat Higgins. I’m not really sure which category I’d put this movie in… but it’s funny. The movie has fun dialogue and drama and crazy scenes. It was also shot in a very cool way with many scenes that are insane to see and experience. The storyline pulls you in many directions as you're watching this movie.. I thought all the lead actors all had great onscreen chemistry– they were great together. The sets are great for an indie movie. I look forward to what this director and filmmaker has coming up next! The musical numbers are the best thing about this film, only because they’re so good. (The cast can really sing!) That said, it’s got a great colorful pulpy look, with some great practical VFX.
