Sadly, it ultimately builds to a would-be shocking twist that is not nearly the game-changer it claims to be, leaving viewers with more questions than answers. Go to Full Review

The Astronaut has a lot going for it, but, like the lead character in the opening scenes, it doesn’t quite stick the landing. Go to Full Review

Varley’s grip, her taut observation of nerve-wracking isolation, loosens and the film devolves into a blunt and clichéd consideration of family. The transition is awkward, and more cartoonish than moving, as the performers try to regain their footing. Go to Full Review

Writer-director Jess Varley delivers an engrossing, intriguing "after space" story that's only really weighed down by some low-orbit visual effects. Go to Full Review

What’s missing for most of the running time is a sense that movie is about anything more than it appears on the surface. Go to Full Review

Francis S @Francis101 3h It builds up a tension that doesn't deliver a coherent ending. See more Pp N @pxn.000 20h It started off quite decent. It had so much more potential then how it ended… Don’t recommend it, felt like a waste of time. See more Danny R @MeltedIceCream 22h It's like Cocoon, but worse. See more Marc Z @TKDLife 1d I am surprised I never heard of this and that it did not get better reviews. Kata Mara, Laurence Fishburne, and Gabriel Luna are all good in this movie about an astronaut that returns to Earth after an unusal experience. Is she having a breakdown? Is there an alien encounter in her life? Is someone trying to make her think she is nuts. I think this one does a good job. It is well Directed and a good watch. See more AJ G @ItstheGerth 2d The Astronaut starts with a great premise, and a great cast, but it sadly ends there. The production value is poor, it looks like a student film made at his rich parent's country house. Continuity is lacking, combined with lazy portrayals of NASA, the US Army, etc... Toss in poor character relationships, that make little sense; and plot holes and omissions that insult the viewer. It could have been a great 30-minute episode of Black Mirror vs. a mediocre 90-minute feature. See more Read all reviews
