Perry’s performance is a spectacular piece of high-wire burlesque. There’s an extraordinary spontaneity to it. Go to Full Review
Glenn Kenny New York Times Feb 13
While expansively anarchic to a fault, the movie’s anger, and its pride, is convincing. Go to Full Review

There's a lot to chuckle about in this film, and even some tender moments that tug on the heartstrings, but that doesn't mean Perry won't draw the usual critiques of his work with this one. Go to Full Review

Tyler Perry's Joe's College Road Trip feels like it's trying too hard to earn that hard R rating. Go to Full Review

Somehow, the "quality" of Tyler Perry's storytelling feels even worse when a positive, meaningful message is attempted, this time through the prism of Madea-universe regular Joe, a crass, nonsensical conduit for Black History 101... Go to Full Review

Despite a more overt message than we're used to from Mr. Perry, Joe’s College Road Trip feels stuck in the same tired rhythms — recycling broad caricature, nonsensical plotting, and humor that rarely rises above offensive. Go to Full Review

E S. @es2241 8h It was vulgar. The swear words were nonstop. I’m disappointed in the innuendos, references to drugs and overall disrespect to the black community. See more Justin Z @Just4gamerstube 16h Tyler Perry Joe's College Road Trip. This is way way way more than your Typical Average Road Trip film. This is MOUNTAINS better than any Road Trip comedy you have ever seen. We finally get a chance to see our favorite Dirty Old man Get his own Adventure. This time around we see Joe take on the challenge of making Tyler's son a God D Man up in this Piece. Get ready for F Bombs Galore and plenty of Ranchy fun only Tyler Perry can do. We do get a little Madea scenes at the beginning and that is the icing on this cake. Plenty of laughter, Oh Lawd Have mercy so much Laughter See more Angel T @xXSavageGuy21Xx 21h Made me laugh. When he took out the chair from his pants, he had me rolling. Tyler Perry should definitely explore more character stories. And we definitely need a Big Momma's house/Madea crossover. Just saying. See more LADY L @Lillymd 1d This isn't just a bad movie technically, its abhorrent. The tropes and stereotypes are blatant and offensive and the movie offers nothing to balance it. Any and all attempts at a meaningful message are overlooked at best, and undermined/pandering at worst. Some of this was so offensive, and I dont really get offended by comedies but this was offensive. Don't even hate watch this. I felt gross by the end. See more Laila J @yvonne23 1d This was one of THE top 3 funniest Tyler Perry’s movies! Ironically, I also learned so much about my Black History as in the historical settings. People complained about the language but if you’ve watched other Tyler Perry’s movies, this was soooo expected of Joe lol. In all, this was a great representation of minority’s in predominantly white communities, neighborhoods, and schools who are completely segregated from their own culture. The times we are living now, I’m very proud this movie came out. Well done! See more Risharri F 1d This movie makes no sense it is just a lot of nonsense with a lot of curse words. I think Tyler Perry must have had a deal with Netflix to have so many movies and he did not want to do any more movies . So he put this hot garbage together. Definitely not his best, but it’s probably top of his worst. . See more Read all reviews
