Peter W @RT12077588 Oct 10, 2026 Within the Pines offers a fantastic concept, elevated by immersive surround audio and the power of strong sound design and mixing. Viewers watching the film with a decent speaker setup will benefit greatly. However, having screened the film, I could not help but feel this would have worked far better as a short film. Several moments drag on longer than necessary to tell the story, which ultimately weakens the film’s potential thrills and suspense. Subplots are introduced but never concluded, instead seemingly positioned for a possible sequel, one I am not confident will ever see the light of day. Ten minutes of watching a man holding a microphone. Ten minutes of a man throwing acorns to the ground. Ten minutes of watching a man snap branches. Lol good way to hold an audience captive. This far in and I couldn't take it anymore. I decided watching paint dry would be more exciting and not a complete waste of time like this movie. No deep messages in this film, no profound revelations, no less is more trickery for those who seen something that wasn't there. Just low budget garbage, plain and simple.
