She dreams of becoming a filmmaker instead. The film has distracting dubbing, but the story still holds up. At its heart, this is a romance built around the familiar idea of a bad boy winning over a good girl. It is entertaining to watch the pair work together and bring their ideas to life. He carries a secret throughout their relationship, and when he finally tells her the truth, it shakes up the world they have built. That reveal adds tension to their romance. My biggest issue is that the film feels like a formula we have seen too many times lately. I would love something unique, with fresh ideas instead of another copy-and-paste romance. Still, You + Me Against the World is entertaining and can be captivating as the characters create things together. The dubbing takes some getting used to, but it is worth watching. The university setting and student-film premise could have given the romance personality, yet they mostly function as decoration for a familiar young-adult formula: the misunderstood rebel, the privileged girl hiding her real ambition, forced collaboration, attraction, secrets and an external threat. Vittoria Di Savoia and Lucas Barski are not the problem; they occasionally feel more natural than the screenplay. The real issue is that every emotional beat seems pre-arranged, every obstacle feels added because the formula requires one, and the story keeps confusing complication with interest. The cinematography is decent, but I was never invested in the romance, the mystery or the conflicts around them. A silly romance can still be charming or fun. This one was neither for me. While the cinematography is great the plot is just a tangled mess of "After" & "My fault" - I hope they don’t make a sequel because I think this is as good as it gets for Alma and Vadim. Some parts were predictable, but I was still completely invested.
