Though sprawling and highly detailed, “The Gray House” becomes so clunky and overrun with extraneous characters and narratives that the women at its center nearly get lost in the chaos. Go to Full Review

A great historical story gets wasted in this endurance test for viewers. Go to Full Review
Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times 3d
“The Gray House” isn’t all bad, and its intentions are good, but it’s dramatically predictable and at eight episodes, some over an hour, goes on much, much longer than it needs to. Go to Full Review

The Gray House is surprisingly engaging for such a sprawling historical drama, aided mostly by a good mix of characters and a strong lead performance by Daisy Head. Go to Full Review

Duller than an old butter knife (musket duels notwithstanding). Sadly, turning point history comes off wishy-washy on The Gray House. Go to Full Review

Dialogue hammers home arguments that sound more like something from a middle school textbook than how humans might speak. Go to Full Review

Charles M. @ameryx 1d Ahistorical. Opens, allegedly, on July 4, 1860, then goes on to talk about Lincoln as President of the Untied States, which he wasn't until March of 1861. And Jefferson Davis as head of the Confederacy, which didn't come into being until after Lincoln was inaugurated. How can I trust the rest of it to be a "true story"? See more Kelly K. @Kkinder896 1d Already winning with Kevin plus Morgan involved. I loved that looking from the African American perspective but still keeping realistic things like killings of them still keep it in the minds of everyone. The soundtrack surprised me pleasantly. Everyone expects period music but a present feel along with today's music drives home for everyone to enjoy this series. See more Sandie D @Sdennis1950 1d Even Mary Louise Parker couldn't help this series move along above a plodding pace. The plot and timeline was confusing at times and bordered on boredom. What a shame. See more Frani D @FranTastic2026 2d Another "Hidden Figure" saga. Well done!! Chronicles the era through these brave women. It unveils the remarkable true story of the women who constructed one of the most efficient espionage networks during the Civil War. MUST SEE!! See more Nancy T @Nancy0623 2d Stopped watching after the 1st episode. The actors tried so hard to talk with southern accents and slang that it was hard for us to follow. Some characters we couldn’t tell if they were for or against slavery. I really wanted to learn about this history but I couldn’t follow it. There was a lot of nonsense also so we stopped watching.
