justin t 02/15/2022 This was not a nice film. It tells the tale of a serial killer and his 'family'. It's hard to follow due to the editing being completely non-linear but the story is very basic and does make sense due to its utter simplicity. The violence is repetitive but sometimes shocking and the nudity frequent and unemotional. To be honest it is not worth watching as it tells nothing new. On the plus side it held my attention and kinda told me something different about Manson but with minimal research on him and I would learn a lot more I am sure. Part documentary, part mockumentary, part drama, part horror, all trippy, The Manson Family is the kind of film that either screams real brilliance or utter amateur in terms of the filmmakers. It's hard to tell whether Jim Van Bebber is a skilled auteur with amazing ideas or if he just managed to create one film that managed to cater to his skills. The Manson Family isn't for everybody with it's art house stylings, rampant gore, nudity and general depravity but it is a work of art. La cinta nos presenta un retrato, en formato documental, del culto a este hombre quien se define como mesías y profeta y cuyos seguidores cometieron una serie de asesinatos brutales (algunos para aparentar una guerra racial, otros para intentar liberar de prisión a uno de sus miembros).
