The unthinkable happens when heavily armed and highly trained terrorists launch a bold daytime attack on the White House. The building is overrun, and President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and his staff are taken hostage. Luckily for Asher, former presidential security officer Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) is on the scene. With time running out, it's up to Banning to locate Asher's son before the extremists do and rescue the president before his captors unleash their ultimate plan.

I love dad action movies, and Gerard Butler is the vice president of dad action movies (Liam Neeson is the president, for those wondering). Olympus Has Fallen won’t get any points for realism or originality. In fact, it probably loses most of its points because of how unrealistic it is. But it’s still a solid action movie, and if you’re into these kinds of Die Hard knockoffs, you could definitely do a lot worse than this one.

I think it was a great action movie and personally kept me on the edge of my seat. I will say in the beginning I felt that the storyline was slightly necessary (would explain but don’t want to spoil), but I know that it personally didn’t detract from my overall review of the film. I’ve read a couple of reviews on here that state that it is a bad attempt at a die hard storyline and that it’s unoriginal. Nonetheless, I still think is a must watch - a storyline doesn’t need to be completely original in order to be great. I also saw other reviews on her state that the film it’s unrealistic, and that it wouldn’t happen - but it’s a film??? reality and predictability aside I think it’s a great watch and would definitely recommend to anyone who hasn’t seen and likes movies like this😊

I liked the beginning and felt that it could be a good action movie. However, when the ground attack progressed I couldn't get past the stupidity of making so-called well trained professional Secret Service agents, cops, etc., just stand there like targets not even trying to get behind some barriers so they would be shot down like amateurs. It just smacked of gratuitous gore. This was a drastic enough scenario without making everyone everywhere victims. I shut it down as stupid and unrealistic on a large scale.
