When a Chinese diplomat's daughter is kidnapped in Los Angeles, he calls in Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) to assist the FBI with the case. But the FBI doesn't want anything to do with Lee, and they dump him off on the LAPD, who assign wisecracking Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) to watch over him. Although Lee and Carter can't stand each other, they choose to work together to solve the case on their own when they figure out they've been ditched by both the FBI and police.

One of my favorite guilty pleasures of all time. Having two legends from different genres come together to make a movie like this is risky but works. Never a dull moment in this movie.

In Brazil, in particular, the film is considered one of the best comedies ever made. The story features action, suspense, plenty of laughs, and fun. The actors are excellent, and the film boasts a spectacular plot, complete with fight scenes and unique dialogue. I wholeheartedly recommend watching it; it’s perfect for a family movie night.

I had resisted watching this movie ever since it came out. I just had no desire to see it, even when everyone was talking about it. I think the movie came up again in popular discussion, so I made a real effort to watch it, and... I feel justified. The movie did nothing for me.

Synopsis
