Starting a new job can be a difficult challenge, especially if you're already retired. Looking to get back into the game, 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) seizes the opportunity to become a senior intern at an online fashion site. Ben soon becomes popular with his younger co-workers, including Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), the boss and founder of the company. Whittaker's charm, wisdom and sense of humor help him develop a special bond and growing friendship with Jules.

Ben brings suits, wisdom, and pure positivity to a chaotic startup, while quietly admiring Jules' fierce ambition. He wisely tells her not to ditch her dreams for a cheating husband - who soon crawls back with apologies, and she folds. Next scene: Ben's desk is empty! THAT'S CINEMA!!

Brilliant! It does enough with it's timely premise. Great writing and Nancy Meyers did good in bringing it to screen. Very good cinematography, visually stunning. Whole cast convincing in character. Great chemistry between De Niro and Hathaway makes it even more charming. So easy to watch, enough drama, action, comedy, good pace and heartwarming. Everybody will be able to take something positive away from this, imo.

The film sidesteps easy jokes and artificial conflict in favor of genuine empathy, communication, and characters who behave like actual adults. Meyers shows admirable restraint, refusing to let the material tip into caricature. De Niro is warm, generous, and quietly great, but this is largely Anne Hathaway’s film. Her CEO is allowed competence, ambition, doubt, and contradiction without being punished for any of it. The film isn’t edgy or flashy, and it’s all the better for it. A near-perfect studio programmer we don’t get anymore. It’s telling that a decade later, Meyers still hasn’t been able to get another one made.
