The Unholy follows Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak and heal the sick. As word spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) hoping to revive his career visits the small New England town to investigate. When terrifying events begin to happen all around, he starts to question if these phenomena are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more sinister.

It's a credit to Brown, Morgan, and Sadler that the story works at all. These actors maintain the illusion that The Unholy is a competent horror movie for far longer than it deserves.

Could of been worse Could of been better It’s harmless with little to no scares but at least enough intrigue to finish the film out. Quite good cinematography though & an interesting demon design that I wish wasn’t so CGI at times

would've given 1 star but I like Jeffrey Dean Morgan lmao. very generic, full of poorly executed tropes and cheap jump scares. the plot is easy enough to follow yet still managed to not make sense somewhere in the end...not great
