See more Chris S @Janomi 4d Transformers: Age of Extinction has plenty to like because Mark Wahlberg gives the series a different human anchor. Cade Yeager has a tougher, more blue-collar energy than Sam Witwicky, and Wahlberg brings enough physical confidence to fit the larger action around him. Lockdown is one of the better villains in the series. His bounty-hunter angle makes him feel distinct from the usual Decepticon threat, and he brings a colder, more focused danger to the story. The Dinobots are underused, but seeing them finally appear gives the movie a fun burst of fan-service spectacle. The action scale remains huge, and Michael Bay still knows how to stage massive destruction and robot combat. The problem is that the movie is overlong, crowded, and not especially strong on story or character. It has big moments, but it also feels exhausting. I wasn’t a fan of the character Lucas because he was annoying, but that’s it. Not sure how I felt about Galvatron’s design, but that didn’t take away from the movie. Overall, a pretty good movie.
