When talented computer engineer Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) finds out that Ed Dillinger (David Warner), an executive at his company, has been stealing his work, he tries to hack into the system. However, Flynn is transported into the digital world, where he has to face off against Dillinger's computerized likeness, Sark, and the imposing Master Control Program. Aided by Tron (Bruce Boxleitner) and Yori (Cindy Morgan), Flynn becomes a freedom fighter for the oppressed programs of the grid.

Ever since I first watched this movie, it has been stuck in my brain. So memorable and makes you think about how far technology will go before we start pulling back. Love it!

The visuals mostly hold up. The central question of whether technology should be an extension of humanity or something independent from it remains just as relevant today. I liked where Tron was heading, but the audio mix and costume design took me out of it. (Not the ignited circuitry - the suits themselves.) I found myself losing track of plot points, and some of the characters became difficult to distinguish beneath the glowing costumes. Watching the original made me appreciate Tron: Legacy even more. Tron was both a technological and creative feat, and it deserves its flowers for that alone. But I appreciate it even more for the seeds it planted than for the film it ultimately became. The universe it created is an incredible backdrop for bigger, bolder ideas, and I hope filmmakers continue exploring it.

Its one of those films where you look at it and laugh at its effects, but you have to admit, it was mind-blowing for its time when it came out in 1982. This film however, has a great story about videogames.

Os filmes dos anos 80 eram divertidos porque não se preocupavam muito em explicar o porquê das coisas acontecerem e estavam muito mais interessados em criar imagens e atmosferas incríveis. Mas quase nem prestei atenção pois dava para ver o fundo verde e os atores a temer e claro os gráficos são de época.

Tron is a silly but fun film. The visual effects definitely don’t hold up but it has a classic retro video game style to it. The plot is very generic but considering the silly tone the film had it fit.
