What to Know

Critics Consensus

The blood pours freely in Argento's classic Suspiria, a giallo horror as grandiose and glossy as it is gory.

What makes [Suspiria] especially effective is how they use horror to make a point about educational institutions' enforcement of gender hegemony to interrogate conventional femininity. Go to Full Review

What lingers is not a sense of evil but exhilaration in how far Argento and his fellow filmmakers were willing to go to shock and delight; the movie's sheer exuberance is the cinematic equivalent of a blood transfusion. Go to Full Review

Argento accomplishes so much simply through lighting and music - which goes a long way to compensate for the stilted dialogue and awkward character interactions. Go to Full Review

The dialogue is kind of goofy at times, but to me, that is part of the charm. My problem with Suspiria is that with a run time of only an hour and 40 minutes, it somehow feels like a 2 hour + movie. Go to Full Review

Michael T @Michael3333 1d I really enjoy horror films and Suspiria overall was an ok horror film. I did really enjoy the aesthetic of the movie. See more Elias M @Elias_miguel_502 2d this movie had a scene with maggots and i just couldn't watch the rest, more importantly the plot was very confusing as well as the violent scenes. it has horror aspects but not entirely played right. -Elias miguel See more valeria S @valeriasalgado 3d I really like this film I like the suspense that this film carried throughout the whole entire movie I would watch this movie. See more Adrian A. @Adrian_AU 3d This movie to me was a bit boring because I found the plot to be confusing. These are times when you are questioning the horror moments. It was interesting but confusing and I didn’t enjoy the music. See more Gi S @Gistevenn Feb 17 Not as good as advertised, at least to me. I dropped it when the maggots started dropping. See more Jazmine G @jazminegonza Feb 7 I thought this film was so intriguing and unique because it captured both elements of suspense and horror. The sounds and coloring was a great compliment to the film’s creepy and eerie plot. It also reminded me of the movie Level 16 as the headmasters of both films used a front to cover the operation that they were secretly running. Regardless, I thought this was such a cool film to watch! See more Read all reviews
