When her teenage daughter opts out of Thanksgiving, single mother Claudia Larson (Holly Hunter) travels alone to her childhood home for an explosive holiday dinner with her dysfunctional family. Claudia quickly tires of her parents, her long-suffering sister (Cynthia Stevenson), her snobby brother-in-law (Steve Guttenberg) and her nutty aunt (Geraldine Chaplin). But the evening gets interesting when sparks fly between Claudia and her brother's handsome friend Leo Fish (Dylan McDermott).

This is my absolute favorite T-Day holiday movie, and I watch it every year. I laugh my head off as it depicts most of the family dynamics I have ever seen. And yet, at the end, there are tears of gratitude from me for having such as wacky family myself. Don't pay much attention to what the critics say. This one definitely needs to be on your list.

This film felt like a letdown, sadly. It had a great cast and some great acting. Some of the jokes were good but most feel outdated. The love story was terrible and it feels like it was shoehorned in by the studio because it didn't go with the rest of the story and it comes out of nowhere. I feel like it would have been much better if it focused on these family.

Easily one of the most boring Holiday movies to come out of Hollywood in the past 70 years or so. That's unfortunate with fine talents like Holly Hunter, Ann Bancroft, Charles Durning, and Jodie Foster involved in the project. The writing is below subpar, if not downright deplorable. The stars involved deserve much better than this dreck. On the positive side, it's sure to cure your insomnia.
