Using his love for comics as inspiration, teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) decides to reinvent himself as a superhero -- despite a complete lack of special powers. Dave dons a costume, dubs himself "Kick-Ass," and gets to work fighting crime. He joins forces with the father/daughter vigilante team of Big Daddy and Hit Girl, then befriends another fledgling crime-fighter called Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), but a scheming mobster soon puts their alliance to the test.

Find one review that doesn't say that Hit Girl steals the show. She gets the best scenes, and actually complicates the plot... So, I guess you don't have to pass on Kick-Ass.

Kick-Ass (2010) isn’t really about superheroes — it’s about moral courage. Dave Lizewski isn’t strong, gifted, or chosen; he’s just someone who refuses to stay a spectator while violence happens in plain sight. The film’s power comes from flipping the superhero myth: responsibility doesn’t come from power, it comes from awareness. Doing the right thing is painful, dangerous, and often unrewarded — but choosing to act still matters.

Loved this movie. I HATE super hero movies (Marvel and DC stuff), but I like this kind. You can create a double feature by pairing this movie with "Super" (James Gunn directed).

Had its moments but couldn’t finish it. There’s a scene where the girl left a flashlight with strong flashing blinks. So I just turned it off.

This movie is what a modern super hero movie should be, just some random loser that sorta happens into becoming one. A bunch of plot points are also carefully foreshadowed earlier in the film, which is another thing that makes it so good. And the dialogue is pretty funny
