Claudio C @Claudio666 34m American Sweatshop (2025) Interesting Theme (12,622 – 13 Aug 2026 – Claudio Carvalho) Daisy Moriarty (Lili Reinhart) works at the Paladin Control under the command of her boss Joy Jones (Christiane Paul). The team is in charge to delete violent, pornographic and sexual content from the Internet under Joy’s supervision. When Daisy sees a video of a woman being nailed and raped, she is affected and starts to look for the man in the video. Her behavior is also altered by the video. "American Sweatshop" (2025) is a German-American film with an interesting theme: a team that deletes sensitive theme from Internet, but they are not censors. Joy gives a great example: if a man kills a duck for pleasure, the video should be deleted. But for cooking, there is no problem. However, the pace is boring and tiresome, despite the good performance of Lili Reinhart. My vote is five. I understand the negative reviews because it’s labeled as a thriller, and you expect something very different. But I actually loved being surprised by how the story unfolded and the point behind the film. Acting was excellent as well. See more Matt L @laxlilly Jul 7 I like that the movie depicted a job that I have never considered before- the moderators tasked with absorbing the worst content online so the rest of us never have to. The film captures the slow deterioration of these employees, and that central idea is genuinely compelling. The problem is that the premise was already clear from the trailer, and the actual story built around it wasn’t interesting. It follows a moderator’s fixation over a disturbing video, and her declining mental health. She turns into a vigilante who is obsessed with finding the creator of the disturbing video. That character transformation should have weighed on me, but I found myself apathetic to her suffering. The story itself just wasn’t convincing enough to buy into. The lead actress, was good, the material was just meh. I think the ending intended to be serious, maybe even frightening, but it came off almost comical instead. When the movie ended, my first thought was “that was disappointing.” See more Martin F @manekenthe Jun 6 content moderation as a thriller premise, genuinely unsettling on paper. the opening pulls you in and lili reinhart does what she can. but the characters never really develop, the script keeps circling around the tension it promises and never delivers, and the ending is a mess. what could have been a disturbing, under-the-skin thriller quietly becomes a bore. i wouldn't last a day at that job, but I also wouldn't rewatch this film. I expected a thrilling story about a woman seeking vigilante justice - but the actual movie was slow, drawn out, and mostly uneventful. The concept had lots of potential - but it leaves you thinking ‘umm… that’s it?’ Follow the audience score on this one. Law enforcement that waits for a body before acting. And a woman who decides that sometimes the only way to stop a bad thing is with another bad thing.
