See more Big D @Drazker Nov 3 Lets start off simple. Very messy and silly plot, BUT made up in comedic value. Great acting from an underground cast with symbolism littered throughout the film. For a film nearly 15 years old on a small budget the special effects were solid. Due to the simple fact as an American i found the British humor hilarious, combined with it being a classic cosmic horror blend i would of given this a 4.5 at face value, but the unnecessary pet death is always a turn off. Final rating 4/5. Must watch if you're seeking a genuine funny horror film. See more Charlie A @Charlie-Chookins Nov 3 Attack The Block is easily one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a while. This movie had an interesting premise, dynamic characters, amazing monster designs, and great portions of comedy. I didn't know what to think going into this movie; however I was not disappointed. The aliens/Monsters were interesting. The bioluminescent mouths and vantablack fur was a cool design choice; lots of contrast, lots of animalistic tendencies, and interesting but also primal means of tracking the protagonists. John Boyega and crew were all very comedic in their own ways. I have to say; with Boyega less is definitely more; his character (Moses) is a man of few words, he's the strong silent type that made me root for him. Jodie Whittaker's character Sam is also intriguing; she goes from an innocent unsuspecting victim to being one of the most badass characters in the movie. While this movie isn't extremely gory we do get some intense violence and sad deaths, but we also get some comedic ones too (mainly the monsters). If I had to pick a few things to gripe about in this movie it's the death of a pet, and the mystery surrounding the monsters/aliens. A follow up to this movie would be on my radar. If they did make a sequel I hope it would explain the aliens a bit more. All in all; this was a great movie. Good comedy, good premise, amazing creature design, and good redemption.
