Yeah, it's low budget, acting isn't great, costumes are mediocre (took me 25 minutes to figure out it was set in the 80's?), but I had a good time. And, the people involved seemed to care and be having a good time as well. A Tony Todd cameo is always great. Don't set you expectations to Kubrick, and have a good time. Cheers! The plan goes terribly wrong when the boy is killed in an act of tremendous violence. The victim is resurrected to seek revenge against those who fatally showed no mercy to him. "Candy Corn" is a nostalgic throwback to the 80's slasher films. The movie only stands out for its gory and exaggerated death scenes, a limited value in terms of the entertainment it has to offer. We're talking about a low-budget horror film called ‘Candy Corn' that does muted, piano-scored, "emotionally weighty" conversations that are so heavily dramatized, I could barely tell if it was supposed to be parody. If it just played it straight but recognized its genre, I might not have keyed in on it so much. But it's so self-serious that I couldn't ignore how tired I was. It's like staring at a home video from 30 years ago trying to solve a series of murders that didn't actually happen. See more Read all reviews
