Critics Consensus

Taron Egerton and an against-type Jason Bateman make for great adversaries in Carry-On, a throwback thriller that clears all checkpoints of plot logic with its confident execution.

The one-dimensional characters and lack of awareness around how airports work—to say nothing of the shameless bootlicking throughout—turn Carry-On into an immediately forgettable holiday hatewatch. Go to Full Review

A fairly entertaining and intriguing film that keeps you glued to the screen and, yes, let’s call it what it is: a popcorn flick, even if it never made it to theaters. At times formulaic and with some implausible moments, though. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

K P @Karannpete 22 hrs ago Horrible. This movie went from blah to bad to worse to unbelievably bad. I am shocked Jason Bateman would be in such a sub par movie. Embarrassingly bad. Y See more Jeremy A @RT10071844 5 days ago Carry-On was one of those Netflix movies actually worth sitting down with your dad and watching. Sitting alone, this had me on my seat, guessing what the next action would be. I love the actual look of fear Taron Egerton (Ethan Kopek) gives off, as if he's in the scene in real life. HE ISN'T LIFELESS WHEN HE IS ABOUT TO KILL. Ethan struggles to do everything; he's clumsy and scared, AS YOU SHOULD BE. Reading some of the reviews, I see (unrealistic and not as TSA would do it, but this is a scared man on his FIRST ever shift as a bag checker. ON CHRISTMAS EVE. so you best bet if i was in his situation i would be as scared if not more scared than he was. My only complaint was the actions the LSX took in action. Police, especially in the airport area, take calls VERY seriously, so I call with no one talking could be an indication of danger. So the scenes of them needing convincing were NOT needed. But all for filler action with the fake spy and the car scene. overall a 7.5/10 worth it / eh See more Derry W @boxojoe Oct 21, 2026 I have never been this mad watching a film until now. The antagonists get away with so much it feels like the writers rewrote the script one too many times. How the hell does no one notice anything the antagonists do? They’re out in the open, being flashy, yet no one cares? Why doesn’t he just call for help? He’s works at an *airport*, with like a trillion other people around that would surely follow him if anything were to happen. Just scream ‘BOMB!’ or ‘SHOOTER IN THE PARKING LOT!’ then everyone and their mom dives for cover while the security team tries to find the bad guys. This might be the 5th movie I’ve watched with a premise like this (forced to obey orders by a mysterious phone guy) and this has to be bottom of the list. This was ok, but others have done better with this plot. (Also, I’m pretty sure they were trying to copy Die Hard 2 with the airport + Christmas setting, but it really lands on its back with it. Christmas is, in no way, important to the plot whatsoever.) See more Billy C @bcassini13 Oct 7, 2026 Feels like the kind of movie that wud come out 20+ years aho, and i mean that in a good way. A must watch if you love action movies. Jason Bateman does a phenomenal job, a very cold realistic version of a villian. Great to watch around the holidays too See more Racheal L @insomniac_racheal Sep 28, 2026 The trailer was brilliant, but the movie was an absolute masterpiece 🔥 This was a very entertaining thriller but I felt as though the writers revealed the antagonist far too quickly, some scenes defied logic and there were far too many plot holes. I have to admit that even though Taron Egerton was excellent as the panicked protagonist, Jason Bateman completely stole the show with a chillingly sinister performance. The story eventually builds towards a high-octane ending that, while a bit predictable, delivers a thoroughly satisfying, action-heavy payoff. A MUST WATCH 🫶 See more Hunter B @RT85277157 Sep 24, 2026 I would really recommend this movie Great Actors Good Story and overall the best movie you’ll see in a long time See more Read all reviews
