James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) is captured by North Korean agents and must serve a grueling prison sentence. He's finally released, and is convinced that someone in his own agency betrayed him. He escapes from custody and travels to Cuba, hot on the heels of Zao (Rick Yune), the agent who put Bond behind bars. Meanwhile, Bond begins romancing NSA agent Jinx (Halle Berry) as he uncovers a scheme concocted by Zao and British millionaire Graves (Toby Stephens), involving a highly destructive laser.

The over-reliance on epic CGI effects results in a few chinks in the spectacle (the tidal wave looks like a video game effect), but the thrill-topping succession of death-defying disasters and unbelievable battles... just don’t stop coming.

It really doesn't matter how Lee Tamahori directed the film or what Neal Purvis and Robert Wade did with their script because Die Another Day was screwed from the moment that The Bourne Identity opened in theaters.

If you hate this movie it’s because you don’t like action, drama, and twists. I can understand that it’s a bit corny and the CGI wasn’t great back then, but this is engaging the entire time. I can only imagine how great it must have been in theaters

All over the place (Bond gets tortured for over a year AND there's a space laser harnessing the sun's power called Icarus, M tosses Bond out as a liability AND "An ice palace can be such a treacherous place.") without any sense of balance. Strong candidate for the worst Bond movie and the worst Bond song too. I guess they had to go this far to realize they needed to pull back.

Cinematic mon deiu! The only way to enjoy this movie is to hate watch it. Even the theme song by Madonna is a masterpiece of terrible writing. It should die today and not another day.
