Driver is a skilled Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a getaway driver for criminals. Though he projects an icy exterior, lately he's been warming up to a pretty neighbor named Irene and her young son, Benicio. When Irene's husband gets out of jail, he enlists Driver's help in a million-dollar heist. The job goes horribly wrong, and Driver must risk his life to protect Irene and Benicio from the vengeful masterminds behind the robbery.

Drive also means Motivation: This film feels like a modern western. We have a nameless man who blows into town and helps a family who he grows attached to. Ryan Gosling, who plays the nameless driver, is mainly very quiet, letting his actions do the talking. It is a tightly written 100-minute movie that lets the silence speak volumes. Don't expect a ton of action, this isn't "Baby Driver" or "Transporter". This movie is a bare bones story, letting the visuals and montage communicate to the audience the driver's emotional journey. Overall, a real good movie.

Ryan Gosling gives one of the best performances in his entire career. Done by minimal talking with majority of the time being silent. He let's his facial expressions do most of the talking. The film has nice Cinematography but out of all the film has one of the best nightlife sequences of all time. The nightlife in this film is top notch.

This is the embodiment of a cinematic masterpiece. What exists in this film is the perfect balance of thrilling suspense, passionate romance, moral ambiguity, and raw violence—all of which tap into our most bare human emotions and distill the human experience. Not to mention the nostalgic filter that coats this film—Los Angeles is transformed from a sunny California desert city into a sleazy, cool-toned, seductive metropolis. You won’t be able to take your eyes off it as it sets the tone for this fervent film.

Synopsis
