A smart and subversive twist on slasher horror, Fear Street Part II: 1978 shows that summer camp has never been scarier thanks to stellar performances from Sadie Sink, Emily Rudd, and Ryan Simpkins.

1978 emulates the first Golden Age of slasher movies, particularly ones set in rural areas. Go to Full Review

So much of the trilogy is dedicated to expositional scenes laying down the foundations of Shadyside's history, there's too much that's admirable in theory and flat on screen. Go to Full Review

As love letters to 1970s and '80s slashers go, this is one of the best I've seen outside of 2015's The Final Girls. Go to Full Review

Fear Street Part Two: 1978 can be predictable, slow-paced, and yet, it’s nice to see some plot points come full circle with the previous film. Go to Full Review

As for “1978”, it manages to be both nostalgically transporting and needlessly irritating. Go to Full Review

Blu B @RT43513976 1 day ago A Classic Horror Sequel and vastly superior to the first one in pretty much every aspect. The fact there is only one killer and he's a good one also. The fact it feels so much more focused and setting things up in a much more methodical less bloated manner. The kills are brutal, quick, lacking any flair, but yet are really effective. There over in seconds not lingering at all and it works. It's got good lighting that doesn't feel lifeless, the setting is memorable, and it's built on every single cliche you can think of in the slasher genre. Literally every single slasher cliche is here but it's done in a smart clever manner. The humor here is much more toned down and gives it a much more serious vibe. The chase/action moments are just as good if not better than the first. Really the biggest problem that holds this back is editing wise it's not bad but it jumps around almost the entire time between the two sisters storylines throughout the night as they encounter the killer and the myst See more Naya B @Nbombslaher Oct 15, 2026 This is the best love letter to 70s 80s slashers with one of the best soundtracks of any movie I have ever seen. This is my go to comfort movie every july. I havent seen anything in the last 20 years that is this good. See more Melchizedek Franz Noval S @Melchizedek Sep 27, 2026 Part Two – 1978 shifts the story from the ’90s to a summer camp in the late ’70s, giving the slasher formula a classic camp-horror atmosphere filled with creepy moments, violence, and suspense. I liked how this one expands the mythology introduced in the first movie and provides more background on the curse. The setting also allows for memorable kills and mounting tension as the story moves toward its inevitable bloodbath. Sadie Sink gives a standout performance as Ziggy, bringing emotion and energy to the character. That said, I didn't find it quite as entertaining as Part One. Some characters felt underdeveloped, the pacing occasionally dragged, and the more straightforward story lacked some of the mystery and unpredictability of the first movie. Overall, it's a decent slasher that continues the story and adds important pieces to the larger mystery. It has strong atmosphere and some great moments, but it didn't hit quite as hard for me as the first installment. See more Kit L @Kitz_Editz123435 Aug 20, 2026 Wow! I binged 2 Fear Streets in a row; there that good! The superb acting made the characters come to life! Sadie Sink and Emily Rudd's performance was great in the movie See more MARCELL T @RT63271599 Aug 11, 2026 Definetly the best movie out of the three. It wasn't as gore as the first, which is defintely a plus for me. Only missing that 0.5 star because of the end. SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSS I find it really hard to believe that Ziggy survived being stabbed like 20+ times. Overall a great watch, recommend it for every horror fan. See more Read all reviews
