In a standard cowering-town-needs-a-gunfighter drama, typical themes (redemption, forgiveness) are laid out with little imagination. Go to Full Review

Forsaken greatly benefits from the poignant teaming of its father-and-son stars -- as well as Michael Wincott as an especially elegant and eloquent gunfighter who has great respect for John. Go to Full Review

It has a solid story to tell, and tells it with no winks and few, if any, frills. It's involving and ultimately exciting. Go to Full Review

By relying on uninspired Western tropes over true grit, Forsaken is forgettable. Go to Full Review

Veteran TV director Jon Cassar (a 24 stalwart) isn't aiming for anything particularly original or revisionist here, and some viewers will take issue with his film's measured pacing... But the movie has enough grace notes to keep Western fans engaged Go to Full Review

As modern critics lament the death of the genre, Forsaken is a reminder as to why Westerns went out of fashion in the first place. Go to Full Review

Gregory C @RT60341319 4 days ago Classic western tale of dueling interests, the very rich and connected, and the landowning but poor farmers. First rate cast and very real depiction of an Old West. Excellent script and characters, especially Demi Moore, Kirfer Sutherland, Michael Wincott, and Brian Cox See more Matthew D @OceanSage Sep 13, 2026 Kiefer Sutherland is fantastic as a gunslinger who wants to put down his firearms alongside his very moving father Donald Sutherland. Michael Wincott is great as a reluctant gunfighter, who does not wish to shoot Kiefer. Aaron Poole is entertaining as a sleazy henchman to Brian Cox's roaring and swearing villain trying to steal land. It's like a cheap version of Pale Rider, but Forsaken (2015) is as solid as modern Westerns get. See more Scott S. @RT20076591 Jun 21, 2026 Great western. Sutherland are great in this movie. See more Des E @Cliffity Apr 21, 2026 The plot of homesteaders being forced to sell or die by wealthy villain who hires thugs and gunslingers has been flogged to death. Kiefer Sutherland puts on the false husky voice throughout this boring rubbish. Donal Sutherland didn't have much of a charachter or script to display his talents..So avoid this painful rubbish. See more Dennis K. @dragonintherain Mar 14, 2026 I'm giving this 5 stars... The casting is fantastic and beautifully acted. The scene with Kefir and His Dad in the church is very moving. It was their first film together... Sad they couldn't have done more. It's not a fast paced film, if you're used to marvel pace it'll be too slow. Enjoy. See more Tommy U @RT56384213 Jan 1, 2026 I have always loved Donald and Keifer Sutherland and seeing them together in a classic no frills western is absolutely perfect. Sure the story was a cliche and unoriginal but still a beautiful story nonetheless. Just seeing all the characters come to life in a western scene from 2016 was awesome because most people growing up will be as inspired by the story telling if you never really experienced watching westerns before. I completely enjoyed the acting, the beautiful landscape and the feel of old west. I highly recommend watching this movie without prejudice. I'd give it 💯 worthwhile movie to watch!!!
