Chris S @Janomi 2d Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is very solid because the Triwizard Tournament gives the movie a clear and exciting structure. The dragon, lake, and maze tasks make Hogwarts feel connected to a larger magical world and give the story a strong sense of competition and danger. The teenage awkwardness is also entertaining. The Yule Ball, crushes, jealousy, bad hair, and friendship tension make Harry, Ron, and Hermione feel like actual teenagers. Robert Pattinson gives Cedric Diggory decency and innocence, which makes his death hit harder. The graveyard sequence is the film’s biggest turning point. Ralph Fiennes makes Voldemort theatrical, cruel, and genuinely dangerous from the moment he returns. The movie has too much story to cover and rushes through major pieces, but Goblet of Fire is energetic, important, and very watchable. This has so much action. However, I could see people hating it as it's good and people think trash movies like the Odyssey and the Empire Strikes back are great movies. Think of this as the Star Wars Episode one of the Harry Potter franchise. It has all the cool stuff and characters but people will still pretend it's not good. Its first stretch can feel lighter and less focused than The Prisoner of Azkaban, partly because it introduces many characters, locations and rules through the spectacle of the Triwizard Tournament. Dragons, underwater trials and new schools expand the world, but they also make the film feel crowded. What gives the film real weight is the way that apparent adventure becomes a trap. The arc around Moody and Barty Crouch Jr turns the entire story into a hidden mechanism leading toward Voldemort's return. The third act changes the saga completely. Cedric's death and Ralph Fiennes's unsettling entrance make danger physical and irreversible.
