It's a strong debut by Weekes and nails the essential part of a horror movie: the horror. Go to Full Review

The film has much to say about grief, guilt, assimilation and the on-going refugee crisis. And on top of all that, it's also a nifty nerve-jangler. Go to Full Review

This is exactly the type of storytelling that the horror genre excels at. It amplifies real human emotions and fears to the level of overload, resulting in a uniquely empathetic experience. Go to Full Review

Cole M. @colemcq 17h First things first this is not a horror movie, it has horror aspects but this is a thriller more then anything. First hour of the film was good and had you thinking that there was a lot more to the house and the demons or ghosts or whatever you assumed was going on by then. (Spoilers) The reveal of the daughter not actually being their daughter was incredible and an amazing plot twist that really tied the story together well on top of showing another side of who our main characters are and what they did to get away from sudan. It honestly puts a whole new perspective on the movie and would probably make watching it a second time a whole new experience. I really want to rate this movie higher and truth is I think it’s a great movie but personally it’s just kind of boring to me, yes the plot was good and the characters and acting are good too but something just falls flat to me. I think it’s probably the “villain” (apeth) as well as the ending feeling underwhelming and the plot holes of the refugee services letting them stay after trashing the place. Great movie but maybe just not an amazing movie. See more Zachary T. @HyperionHaze 1d His House turns horror into metaphor, using symbolism to reflect the weight of unprocessed trauma. Its final moments are devastating and honest, proving the real battle isn’t with what haunts us — but what we refuse to face. See more Aaron C. @zk6a1 Feb 22 Not scary, sure the emotions were nice but it was straight up boring. Expected an actual scary movie for being rated #1 scary movie on netflix. See more Ciara B @Ciarad822 Feb 21 This is the dumbest movie ever made! NOT SCARY, total waste of my time. I absolutely hated it. Who do I talk to about getting my wasted time back for this crap?! See more Jesse S. @AquaLeaderJesse Feb 4 His House tells an amazing story with great emotional depth, even if some of the scares don't land. See more Oscar E. @oscarpac Jan 30 Wow Great movie! Not very scary but definitely a great story with some creepiness. Ending was kind of weird like the director didn’t know how to end it. Besides that it it’s a good movie. See more Read all reviews
