The film is an electrifying true story about an unknown actor with an unshakable belief that he wasn't just meant to write Rocky--he was meant to be Rocky Balboa. Told "no" at every turn, Sylvester Stallone bets everything on himself, holding the line on playing the lead against seemingly impossible odds. The result is the ultimate underdog story behind the ultimate underdog movie.

It’s all very amusing but I Play Rocky rarely has pathos in its corner. Save for some truly touching moments involving Stallone’s struggle to care for his dog Butkus, it’s often as emotionally vacant as Stallone’s stare. Go to Full Review

Anthony Ippolito impresses as Stallone, but I Play Rocky relies too heavily on nostalgia. Its shallow script misses a chance to explore the actor's struggles and Hollywood's resistance to his vision. Go to Full Review
