Critics Consensus

Bearing only the slightest resemblance to Isaac Asimov's short stories, I, Robot is still a summer blockbuster that manages to make viewers think -- if only a little.

Leaving aside the sub-Matrix hokum about Spooner's sweet-potato-loving grandmom, the movie humiliates itself - and embarrasses us - by the amount of time it spends plugging a glamorous car... Go to Full Review

Though the material possessed the potential for landmark genre filmmaking, the result feels like two hours of product placement, so-so-special FX, too much comic relief, and non-acting from a star sleeping through his performance. Go to Full Review

Ryland C @Rycordes1 1d A good movie about the AI invasion that tries to warn us about. See more Raphaël @Salbataaar Feb 13 Any sci-fi fan has to watch this movie at least once. Yes it's mainstream, yet some parts are predictable but overall it's an excellent take on Isaac Asimov's book. The plot might seem known, told and retold, but it's done in a very interesting way where there is room for the audience to interpret the outcome of the movie, leaving an open door for us to wonder about. While Will Smith's performance is sometimes a little bit superficial, the overall movie is definetily worth a watch. The cast and cinematography makes this a very good movie from the early 2000's and quite representative of great blockbusters from the era. See more Tomato B. @GummyBee Jan 19 This was a revolutionary movie in its time, and still holds up today. Jan 9 Love this movie , won’t let anyone tell me differently See more Snowhite S Dec 6 I would give it 4 stars if it wasn't for Will Smith's cockyness and silly one liners...AND that silly crooked hat! Could have been shorter too. Overall, a comfort ostalgic 90's, early 00's watch 👍 See more Read all reviews
