But this I’ve seen about 4 times between then and 2026, and I’ve actually grown in appreciation for it rather than got tired of it. I look for clues that I’d missed the previous times. Basically this is a really twisty mind bendy film that has a fascinating concept as it’s central premise and builds a plot around that - making you believe it’s an ordinary whodunnit combined with horror (more like dark comedy). When actually it’s so much more, and psychologically poignant. It stands up so well 23 years later, and it’s just so underrated for what it is - John Cusack’s best if you ask me. To the person claiming it's "Shutter Islandy" Identity came out long before Shutter Island and Shutter Island is molded after The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Just bought the Identity 4k because I wanted the newest transfer despite owning the DVD and Blu-ray. It's a fun ride for spooky season or any time of year.
