When a terrorist threatens to bomb the Miss United States pageant, the FBI rushes to find a female agent to go undercover as a contestant. Unfortunately, Gracie is the only female FBI agent who can "look the part" despite her complete lack of refinement and femininity. She prides herself in being "just one of the boys" and is horrified at the idea of becoming a girly girl.

Twenty-five years later, Miss Congeniality still holds up because it knows exactly what it is: a smart, funny showcase for Sandra Bullock’s charisma, supported by a delightful ensemble and Michael Caine’s scene-stealing turn.

Sandra Bullock is my favorite actress and this is one of my all-time favorites! Great acting, chemistry and humor! Michael Caine and Benjamin Bratt work so well together and with her. Two thumbs way, way, way up and a definite must-see. So glad I got to see this again in theaters!

Didn't enjoy this on release at the cinema, comparing it to While you were Sleeping, The Net etc. But reluctantly re-watched it on catch-up TV and really enoyed it. Sandra's cute (yet spunky) personality shines thru. Michael Caine is good. Great interaction between the lead characters. The script has some decent humour in it, to chuckle along to. Good fun to just wash over you. And then there's Sandra in her pink mini-dress...

Gracie's journey seems so relatable—from disdaining feminine characteristics ranging from makeup and accessories to pageants themselves to embracing the beauty and strength in all things feminine. I don't remember when the line between hating and loving such movies blurred opening the door to let me into a world of such wholesomeness, but I am glad it did. Miss Rhode Island is an absolute sweetheart and she is my favourite. The mystery really does not matter here, this is an ultimate girlie-pop sleepover feel-good treat.

So disgusting the way they treat the female characters. They normalise sexual assault, and the entire movie is basically "how to turn a woman into a brainless person object". Not one single scene was not derogatory. Made me bothered and embarrassed of our society that we think this is normal. Would never show this to young girls, they should not be influenced by these dehumanising standards of women.
