In 1980, Ted Bundy was sentenced to death by electrocution. In the years that followed, he agreed to disclose the details of his crimes, but only to one man. During the early days of the agency's criminal profiling unit, FBI analyst Bill Hagmaier met with the incarcerated Ted Bundy in the hopes of understanding the psychology of the serial killer and providing closure for the victim's families. As Hagmaier delves into Bundy's dark and twisted mind, a strange and complicated relationship develops that neither man expected. It never feels like he's taken to task, but in a way Sealey is exploring the darker aspects of mankind, and the film, much like most people in his orbit, is seduced by Bundy's mannered, and often witty conversations.

Luke Kirby is Ted Bundy. The mannerisms, the look, the knife edge temperament. The acting is spot on brilliant.

Questionable focus if it doesn’t transcend another mere portrayal of the subject, but nonetheless gradually chills in a grip so empathetically directed and deeply embodied that turns the case into an observative study based upon the authentic materials. Kirby searches for a soul within his schematic performance, while Wood naturally performed with cautious wonder and urgency. (B)

Well acted and a less sensational take on the Bundy murders. Similar to the Mindhunter series in that most of the film takes place in an interview room. Kirby's portrayal of Bundy is probably the best so far.
