Critics Consensus

George Lazenby's only appearance as 007 is a fine entry in the series, featuring one of the most intriguing Bond girls in Tracy di Vincenzo (Diana Rigg), breathtaking visuals, and some great ski chases.

Film of break-neck physical excitement and stunning visual attractions in which George Lazenby replaced Sean Connery as James Bond. Go to Full Review

Director Peter Hunt manages to inject some life into this 1969 exercise with a wonderful ski chase, but otherwise the film is a bore. Go to Full Review

[George] Lazenby strikes a nice balance between self-aware humor and superspy action. It is still one of the best Bond films of all time. Go to Full Review

It is hard not to respect On Her Majesty's Secret Service and the risks it takes, as the film ends up being one of the most iconic and daring of the franchise. Go to Full Review

George Lazenby's only 007 movie, turns out to also simply be my favorite James Bond movie of all time. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

John K @RT59028310 2 days ago George Lazenby gets very little respect for his one and done Bond flick, but he's actually just fine and delivers some surprisingly effective emotional scenes in the second half of the film. Diana Rigg is simply stunning in every scene and will always be one of the best Bond girls ever! The musical score by the incredible John Barry is one of the all time best in the series. The ending is moving and memorable.. no Bond film has ever come close to it (No Time To Die is the only runner up...) See more Jace E @thefilmguy 3 days ago The one with the other fellow. How this movie made me feel in one word: Stunned. When I think about "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", there are a few things that stick out: - Lazenby looks just like Connery. - He's also surprisingly really good at portraying Bond. - If Bond could keep his libido under control, he probably wouldn't be captured so much. - Hilly - This version is Blofeld is terrifying. - The mountain lair is fantastic. - "He had lots of guts." Come on... be better writers. - So Bond is in love, but also sleeping with so many women. - How many different ways to get down a mountain. - The ending brings it up almost a full star. Best Character: Blofeld Best Quote: "It's all right. It's quite all right, really. She's having a rest. We'll be going on soon. There's no hurry, you see. We have all the time in the world." - Bond Best Scene: The ending. Best Piece of Score: "Try" Note: The winter storm with the windshield wipers not working is nightmare fuel. Ski scenes were as good as anything since and they all smoked! See more IAM M @IAM1655 Jun 7, 2026 Sean Connery had retired the role as 007, but George Lazenby was very great in the movie. He and Diana Rigg carried this movie. The ending still gets me today. Lazenby shouldn't have gotten only one movie. Telly Savalas was brilliant as Blofeld, he was much better than Donald Pleasance.
