Peter Rabbit and his three sisters -- Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail -- enjoy spending their days in Mr. McGregor's vegetable garden. When one of McGregor's relatives suddenly moves in, he's less than thrilled to discover a family of rabbits in his new home. A battle of wills soon breaks out as the new owner hatches scheme after scheme to get rid of Peter -- a resourceful rabbit who proves to be a worthy and wily opponent.

The blend of animation and live action feels natural and even at its most ridiculous points, the film is still irresistibly likeable. It may not look like much at first but Peter Rabbit is an unexpected pleasure.

Gleeson and his committed stunt doubles fall down stairs impressively and often. The voice cast for the animated animals (Robbie, Ridley et al) is absurdly starry and game. Expect many, many sequels to this solid family comedy.

Considering that the initial trailer made Peter Rabbit look like one of the greatest disasters since the sinking of the Titanic, it's somewhat shocking to note that the end result isn't half bad.

This movie is almost as bad as how it promotes mutilating animals. This will make kids excited to be an exterminator. Not to mention James Corden is the lead voice... I guess it's fitting to have someone as loathed as him.
