The Pokémon battles and declarations of affection provide what fans expect, but after 20 years, it all feels very familiar. Go to Full Review

In terms of its animated films, it's time The Pokemon Company stopped trying to cash in on nostalgia; it's clearly not working. Go to Full Review

It's a triumph on multiple levels, hitting the nostalgic sweet spot that the incredibly fun Detective Pikachu couldn't exactly meet with its one foot in the real world. Go to Full Review

Watching through one of my favorite childhood movies redone with enhanced graphics was a treat. It turns out that watching sad Pikachu slap each other in 3D CGI is just as sad as watching it in 2D animation. Go to Full Review

Nathan J. @NathanDirector 2d Rating: 5.3/10 ⭐️ Watched this for Pokémon Day. The story holds up, but this CGI remake left me with mixed feelings. The Director’s Eye: The 3D environments look slick. The landscapes gave me great visual inspiration for my upcoming project. I loved the traditional message: birth doesn't define you, choices do. It’s a grace-filled testament to the sanctity of life. Hearing the 90s voice actors kept that classic vibe. The Cuts: The human models look stiff and plastic, giving me an “uncanny valley” effect that ruined the emotional beats. As a shot-for-shot remake, it honestly feels unnecessary since it adds nothing new. Verdict: Visually jarring but thematically strong. Decent for families, but the 1998 2D original is vastly superior. Favorite Line: "I realize that you should not be judged by your origins, but rather your choices in life." See more Ashley E @PopcornMix86 Dec 23 I feel I only enjoyed this movie since I am a hardcore nerd and fan of Pokemon. I watched the original film in 1999 which was boring. This version has better sound effects and music score. Mewtwo doesn't just seem like an angry Pokemon. You can definitely feel how sad and confused it is. The timing of the scenes and sound effects also help you feel that Mewtwo is not a Pokemon to be messed with. The other characters are not watered down onlookers. They act as they are in the TV series which took the focus away from Mewtwo at times and just made the film more believable. Like it was an event that took place in Ash's journey, not just some dream. Not to mention Team Rocket which got a few laughs out of me unlike in the original where they did not at all. Meowth calls one of the clones cute. See more Renaissance M @RenaissanceMan Dec 17 Pokemon fans will rejoice. Everybody else may not exactly get it. See more Alex O. @Smoovechoa Jul 13 Absolute gar are you kidding me. The textures of the Pokémon are so weird. This is essentially a fan made "movie" created by video game footage. Let the video games be video games and let the animated movies remain. This actually had potential but the animation was HORRIBLE. Floppy, glazed, copy and paste AI b Voices sd, music was terrible. Some scenes were captivating solely because it reminded me of the far better OG. Don't understand what happened. Pure greed, no love. See more Sebastian Jun 9 I used to love this movie when I was younger, but this movie looks like live action pokemon mixed with the flasher gremlin from gremlins See more Stephen C @bob25009 May 14 This movie is funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
