The fresh, funny, touching and true story of writer Beverly Donofrio (played by Drew Barrymore, who ages from 15 to 35 in the role), reveals her coming of age in the late 1960s and her whole life colored by an event that happened when she was 15. One of the most moving and beautiful films I have ever seen. After I watched it, I couldn’t stop thinking about what would have happened if the characters lives went a different direction. I can’t believe the ratings for this film are so low — it was amazing. Beautiful movie

Brittany Murphy brought the only joy to this movie, shining among an interesting but ultimately unlikeable cast of characters. While the film effectively portrayed the pain of regret, it dwelled too heavily on this theme. It was fascinating to see Drew Barrymore, typically known for her bright roles, take on such dark material. Though the opening scene was compelling, the movie failed to give its characters any meaningful development, leaving them stuck in a plateau of misery.
