I personally read it as a meditation on mental health; specifically how dread and anxiety can spread to those around you when expressed openly, almost like an invisible and deeply uncomfortable disease. At the same time, the film also works as a existential/cosmic horror, where some unknown force infects its victims with an unshakable certainty of death. That said, the pacing is painfully slow. The film builds tension relentlessly, but the payoff feels minimal, and it could have benefited from more action or narrative momentum. Despite its flaws, the movie left me with an unsettling question: "If I knew I would die tomorrow, what would I do and say today?". That lingering impact makes it hard to dismiss this movie. It's a great movie to make you think, and I think that's the point the director wanted to make. See more Gabi S 08/27/2024 One of the most pointless, clue-less movie! However, considering that this is supposed to be a psychological thriller kind of situation going on, they could have delved more into the psyche to explain why people were freaking out. Not enough that was put into that part I feel that would’ve made the movie come together significantly better. *SLIGHT SPOILER* The movie ended on a cliffhanger where nobody actually died, but the effect kept being passed on. This would definitely have worked out much better and would have been an ideal ending had the directors— writers, whoever— explored the characters’ decision-making process process even if it is that they’re going crazy.
