'She Walks in Darkness’ takes a piece of recent Spanish history and turns it into a tense tale of espionage. Go to Full Review

A restrained and competent infiltration thriller, anchored by a solid lead performance. Díaz Yanes builds tension and historical context, but the film’s didactic tone and shallow psychology keep it from digging deeper into its troubling subject. Go to Full Review

It feels like the film could be much tighter and have had a smaller scope and could have been something to behold. It is worth the watch, though, if you have a curiosity about this piece of Spanish history. Go to Full Review

Despite its opportunity to springboard off high-stakes real-life events, She Walks in Darkness is a boilerplate spy thriller that struggles to distinguish itself. Go to Full Review

If you want to learn about the ETA and the politics of Spain during the ‘90s, just read about it instead of analyzing it all through the perspective of cops. In fact, consider that a general piece of advice for every movie and TV show with cops in it Go to Full Review

Felipe Q @ParaGustosColores 2 days ago Por sus buenas actuaciones y los momentos de tension que te atrapan y te mantienen pegado al asiento, cuatro estrellas... Totalmente recomendada de ver. See more Bill T. @btreakle Jun 3, 2026 “She Walks in Darkness “ This movie is a story about infiltrating terrorist groups in foreign countries. This is the young lady story about participating and helping her country find all the stashed weapons and military equipment used by this militant group. And her story comes up with a little risk but a lot of risk and danger and chances of being shot. It’s a pretty good movie about working undercover and putting your life on the line and your life on hold while you're doing it. I enjoyed it very much good acting good cinematography and lots of action. See more Christian M @chriss17eu Feb 26, 2026 I began this film with high expectations, drawn by its willingness to approach the sensitive subject of ETA. I left satisfied — not fascinated, but aware I had seen a powerful historical drama. While the dense context occasionally slows the rhythm, the opening and closing sequences are outstanding, revealing the precision of its structure. The screenplay and direction by Agustín Díaz Yanes are meticulous, weaving history and narrative with remarkable clarity, even if some perspectives could have been further developed. It recalls 'Oppenheimer' in its near-documentary weight. Susana Abaitua delivers a compelling performance, balancing fear and determination with subtlety. Elegant cinematography and a refined score enhance the final act, where the film feels impeccable. A great achievement that invites further exploration. See more Marco L @decatur555 Nov 23, 2025 Agustín Díaz Yanes returns with a sober, forceful thriller that grabs you from the start. It blends the tension of espionage with the weight of recent memory, and although not everything works perfectly, you feel the hand of a director who knows exactly what he wants to tell. The story moves at a firm pace, with no unnecessary pauses. There are moments of real tension, the kind that leave you breathless, and a restrained tone that avoids excess, which makes every burst of action more effective. The cast is impeccable: nobody overacts, nobody falls short. The photography is grey, rough and realistic, which suits the story, and Yanes balances thriller and human drama. Could it have been bolder? Yes. In places it holds back too much, and the narrative pulse could squeeze harder. Even so, it's solid, mature work with an ethical clarity that is rare in current Spanish cinema. Well-made cinema. See more MB C @MB.Cinema Oct 19, 2025 Set in 1990s Spain, this espionage thriller about an undercover officer infiltrating ETA promises tension and moral conflict but delivers mostly cold exposition. Despite its historical accuracy and elegant production design, the film lacks emotional depth and human connection....Susana Abaitua gives a restrained performance as Amaya, yet the script never allows her to evolve beyond a symbol of duty....Dialogue feels clinical, the pacing flat, and the politics one sided. What could have been a haunting portrait of divided loyalties becomes a lifeless exercise in patriotic drama.....
