Robert Mulligan was the only American filmmaker to wade into such painfully vexing and frightfully bourgeois territory, and come out with a truly great film. Go to Full Review

The Stalking Moon is a film in which (with apologies to Aristotle) the sum of its parts is greater than the whole, as a few noteworthy sequences aren't enough to rescue the overall movie. Go to Full Review

A well-made but cautious early attempt at a revisionist Western that seems more like a sketch for a grander, grimmer tale the filmmakers weren't ready to tell. Go to Full Review

David L @RT95481682 4 hrs ago Great popcorn western with a relentless antagonist, plus a good deal of suspense thrown in for good measure. Solid performances as usual by Gregory Peck and Eva Marie Saint. Robert Forster is a scene stealer. See more Blu B @RT43513976 1 day ago A film like this really demonstrates the problem with Robert Mulligan. You can feel like he wants to try and maybe do something or tell you something a lot of times. Because none of what's here is terrible or not good. It's all perfectly serviceable and middle of the road the entire way. There is very little dialouge in this 80% of the time and is a very visually heavy film. the first half is the trio on the road together and the second half under seige by the sniper indian. But the films direction just feels so...."lackadaisical" I think is the perfect term to describe it. It doesn't feel lifeless but it just feels like the excitement is missing even though the talent is there. That's a great way to describe my feelings for Robert Mulligan outside of To Kill a Mockingbird really. There is basically no character here and just a basic barebones no frills adventure. Problem is because it's lacking any flair or style or really anything done well it just has nothing to set it apart. The mu See more Martin B @RT44235356 Nov 5, 2025 Very slow. If not for the gravitas of Gregory Peck and seeing Eva Marie Saint in a role that appears out of her normal range, waiting for a nearly invisible Indian to get his just reward for his trail of death would have been a total snoozer. The music supports the drama very well. Definitely worth seeing!!!
