It’s well directed (Matt Johnson) in that you get a sense of events unfolding organically, but it’s Sessa’s film. He brings a sadness and sensitivity to the part that will keep you on side even when Bourdain’s at his worst.

Annoyingly bad behaviour seemed to plague his early life. Yet despite letting himself and countless others down he succeeded eventually. Can’t say the film made me want to celebrate his success. Despite this the movie was a polished production with very strong acting performances by Sessa, Woodall and Banderas.
