Six years after their last adventure, stoner pals Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) have grown apart and found new friends. As each is busy making holiday preparations, a mysterious package mistakenly arrives on Kumar's doorstep. Unfortunately, Kumar's attempt to redirect the package to Harold goes up in smoke -- along with a prize Christmas tree belonging to Harold's father-in-law. The pair's journey across New York City to find a replacement tree threatens to blow Christmas Eve sky-high.

Anyone who, after watching Seth Rogen's "The Night Before," thinks, "Hmm. Well, it was a decent setup, but it was never fully realized and just kind of simmered on the sidelines," should look back four years and enjoy "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas" (in 3D!!). Personally, I think this Christmas adventure of the two goofballs has aged remarkably well. If you grew up in the 2000s and 2010s, are a fan of "New Kids" and Seth Rogen, and are looking for a wacky Christmas movie, then you should definitely check this one out. I laughed a lot, and loudly.

It’s not good but you should have known that simply from the title and concept. It is a fun type of bad though, so if you like a pointless story that might make you chuckle a few times, give it a watch.

The dynamic between Kal Penn and John Cho is one of the few redeeming factors for Harold & Kumar’s third Christmas-themed installment. However, the film takes a rather over-the-top turn, especially during the era of 3D films in theaters, transforming this film into a slightly absurd, bigger-budget blockbuster that loses touch with what made the first film feel like a whole new generation of Cheech and Chong infused with American Pie as the cherry on top. Grading: C+
